Scandal in Macedonia/ Albanian language removed from highway signs

The new signs placed on the Skopje-Tetovo highway are different from usual.

They are in three languages, Macedonian, English and French, while the Albanian language has been removed, unlike previous tables.

The Public Enterprise for State Roads has not provided any explanations as to why the Albanian language is not among the languages ??on the signs, which are reported to have been changed on Saturday afternoon during the late night hours.

This situation has brought the reaction of DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, who has condemned the removal of the Albanian language from road signs.

"Albanian language signs are being replaced with Macedonian language signs, thereby removing the Albanian language from traffic signs. The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) strongly condemns the replacement of traffic signs on the Skopje-Tetovo highway, namely near the Glumov toll booth, by the Public Enterprise for State Roads."

"The signs in the Albanian language are replaced with signs in the Macedonian language, thereby erasing the Albanian language from the traffic signs. This change is a serious blow to the use of the Albanian language and a flagrant violation of the Law on the Use of Languages," Ali Ahmeti's reaction reads./CNA
