Time Magazine: Up to 30,000 killed in Iran unrest

More than 30,000 people may have been killed on the streets of Iran in the first days of January, indicating a dramatic increase in the number of victims, according to the prestigious "Time" Magazine.

So many people were massacred by the Iranian security services that the state's capacity to handle the dead was exhausted, body bags were exhausted, and large trucks were used instead of ambulances to transport the bodies.

This internal death toll exceeds the official figure of 3,117 fatalities, which was announced on January 21 by authorities reporting directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The figure of 30,000 victims is also much higher than the numbers collected by activists, who have so far confirmed 5,459 deaths and are investigating another 17,031.

According to data collected by doctors and emergency response teams on the ground and recorded hospital deaths, there were 30,304 as of Friday. Dr. Amir Parasta, an Iranian-German surgeon who prepared the report, said that number does not include deaths that occurred in military hospitals or in remote areas where the investigation did not reach.
