Talks in Moscow/ US envoy Witkoff meets with President Putin

A meeting between US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin began in Moscow on Thursday evening.

The meeting comes as the US pushes forward with a plan to end the war in Ukraine. The meeting has also been confirmed by the Kremlin.

"A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US special envoy Steven Witkoff has begun in the Kremlin," the Kremlin said on its Telegram account.

Russian state news agencies reported that US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev, as well as Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov were also present at the meeting.

The meeting comes hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a draft agreement was almost ready and that he and his US counterpart Donald Trump had agreed on the issue of post-war security guarantees./ CNA
