Turkey is considering all possible measures in the event of a conflict between its neighbor, Iran, and the United States, a Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters on Wednesday.
Iran and the United States resumed talks earlier this month as Washington bolsters its military capabilities in the Middle East. Iran has threatened to strike American bases in the region if attacked, but Tehran's top diplomat said Tuesday that a deal with the United States is still possible.
Turkey, a NATO member that borders Iran to the east, has said it opposes any military intervention in Iran, warning of the risk of destabilizing the region.
Ankara has been in contact with both sides to reduce tensions and has called for issues to be resolved through diplomatic channels.
Earlier, the Turkish presidency's office for combating disinformation denied reports that Turkey was planning to enter Iranian territory to prevent a potential influx of refugees.
