New round of negotiations/ Here's when talks between Russia and Ukraine

A new round of negotiations involving Ukrainian and Russian delegations will take place within three weeks and could potentially lead to a summit at the highest level, US special envoy Steve Witkoff said this Sunday.

Witkoff said Ukraine and Russia are engaged in a "ridiculous war" over territory, but hopes his and Kushner's proposals will result in a summit.

"Jared Kushner and I hope to have put some proposals on the table for both sides that will bring them together in the next three weeks and perhaps even result in a summit between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Putin. It could end up in a trilateral meeting at some point with President Donald Trump. We'll have to see ," he said.

According to Witkof, Trump doesn't want to attend a meeting unless he thinks he can achieve the best outcome. He also expressed hope that the world could hear "good news" on the issue in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Zelensky previously said that the next round of peace talks should take place in Geneva within ten days. On February 18, talks in a trilateral format involving representatives of Ukraine, the United States and Russia ended in Geneva. /CNA
