After 276 days in orbit, the spacecraft returns to earth

After 276 days in orbit, a Chinese spacecraft has returned to earth. The spacecraft's return came after completing an important mission to test China's reusable space technology.

But the authorities have not given any details about what it is about, and above all what technology has been tested, how high it has flown and in what trajectory the ship has flown since it was launched into space in August last year.

The test marks a "significant" achievement for China's reusable spacecraft technology, which will provide a cheaper and more convenient way to prepare new space missions, Chinese state media reported.

In 2021, a similar spacecraft flew into space and returned to Earth on the same day, but even then Chinese authorities did not provide details of the mission.

Commentators on Chinese social media have speculated that Beijing is developing a spacecraft like the American X-37B model, an independent space plane that can stay in orbit for years.

One such US spacecraft returned to Earth in November last year, after spending more than 900 days in orbit.
