Elections in Hungary end / Turnout at 77.80%, here's what the exit polls

Hungary completed the voting process this evening for parliamentary elections, held to choose between a fifth consecutive term for Viktor Orban or a change from pro-European Peter Magyar.

Polling stations closed at 19:00, with turnout reaching 77.80%, half an hour before closing, far exceeding the previous record of 70.5% set in the 2002 parliamentary elections.

The first exit polls from Median give Magyar's party 57.1% of the vote. This suggests that the Tisza party would win 135 seats, just above the 133 seats needed for a two-thirds majority, while Research Center 21 gives Magyar 55% and 132 seats.

The average estimates that Orbán's party will receive 37.1% of the vote, and Research Center 21 gives Fidesz 38%. If the polls are confirmed, Orbán will lose power after 16 years./ CNA
