"If you do not disarm in 60 days, we will return to intense war"/

Hamas will have 60 days to completely disarm, otherwise Israel will resume military operations in the Gaza Strip, Cabinet Secretary and close ally of Benjamin Netanyahu, Yossi Fuchs, warned.

Speaking at a conference in Jerusalem, Fuchs said the US administration of Donald Trump requested the specific 60-day period and "we respect it." According to him, during this time Hamas would have to hand over all its weapons, including rifles.

"Their AK-47s will be completely removed ," he said, adding that it was not yet clear when the 60-day period would begin, but he estimated it could begin with the first meeting of the Peace Board scheduled for Thursday.

"If it works, then everything will go well. If not, then the Israeli Armed Forces will have to complete their mission ," he continued.

Fuchs also said it is a reasonable assessment that before the possible Israeli elections that could be held in June, Hamas will either have surrendered its weapons or the Israeli army will be in the midst of an intensive military campaign in Gaza. At the same time, he noted that there are many underground tunnels that need to be destroyed as part of the process. /CNA
