Thousands killed and wounded / The balance of the war in Ukraine by American

The total number of Ukrainian and Russian troops killed or wounded since the war in Ukraine began last February is close to 500,000, the New York Times reports, citing US officials.

Officials told the Times that Russia's military casualties are approaching 300,000. The number includes up to 120,000 dead and 170,000 to 180,000 wounded. 

Officials said the figures from the Ukrainian side were closer to 70,000 killed and 100,000 to 120,000 wounded.

According to estimates, the number of Ukrainian troops is around 500,000, including active, reserve and paramilitary troops. Russia has almost three times that number, with 1,330,000 active, reserve and paramilitary troops./ CNA
