King Charles to US Congress: Cooperation between two countries more important than ever

King Charles III delivered his speech to the US Congress, becoming the second British monarch to send a message to American lawmakers.

The king began his speech with a pun, which caused much laughter in the hall: "As Oscar Wilde said, today we really have everything in common with America, except, of course, language!"

The monarch emphasized that the paths of the US and the UK are inextricably linked.

"Whatever our differences, whatever our disagreements, we stand united in our commitment to defend democracy and to protect all our citizens from all dangers. I want to say this with unwavering determination: such acts of violence will never succeed. Our countries always find ways to bring each other closer," the King said.
