Albanian-American organizations from different parts of the United States sent a letter to President Joe Biden on Tuesday, where they expressed concern about Serbia's actions towards Kosovo and demanded that the US and the EU take measures against its president, Aleksandar Vucic.

"We are deeply concerned by the ongoing threat posed by Serbia and its president Aleksandar Vu?i? towards Kosovo and its people", says the letter signed by about 90 Albanian-American associations and groups, from a wide spectrum.

The signatories of the letter ask President Biden for a meeting to discuss the situation.

The letter addressed to President Biden is mainly triggered by the September 24 attack in Banjska in the northern part of Kosovo, where a police officer lost his life, as well as by the large military buildup from Serbia on the border with Kosovo, which the White House itself called "the unprecedented", calling on Belgrade to withdraw troops from the border.

White House Homeland Security spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday that Serbia has begun withdrawing these forces.

"The US and the EU must take measures against President Vucic and prevent him from inciting violence, arming terrorists and threatening his neighbors. "Serbia cannot remain a member of the Western community while simultaneously maintaining close ties with Russia," the letter states.

Albanian-American activists point out the special connection between the United States and Kosovo.

"As proud Albanian-Americans, we deeply appreciate the unwavering support of the United States for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo", the letter states, but it is added that this community is concerned about the role of Serbia, calling the actions as "a clear and present danger to the people, security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo".

Në letër përmendet fakti që nënkryetari i Listës Serbe Milan Radoiçiç, e pranoi publikisht se drejtoi operacionin e 24 shtatorit, së bashku me Bojan Mijailoviçin, një truprojë i ministrit të Brendshëm Aleksander Vulin, i cili është sanksionuar nga Departamanti i Thesarit i SHBA-së, për krim të organizuar, operacione të paligjshme lidhur me narkotikë dhe lehtësimin e aktiviteteve keqdashëse të Rusisë në Ballkanin Perëndimor.

Në letër përmendet gjithashtu deklarata e ambasadorit amerikan Jeffrey M. Hovenier, se sulmi “ishte i koordinuar dhe i sofistikuar” se personat e armatosur duket të kanë pasur stërvitje ushtarake dhe se sasia e armëve lë të kuptohet se kishte një plan “për të destabilizuar sigurinë në rajon.”

“Sulmi terrorist është pjesë e një sërë përpjekjesh për të destabilizuar Kosovën dhe rajonin... (Ai) paraqet një kthesë kritike dhe vendimtare jo vetëm për rajonin por edhe për gjithë Evropën”,

Autoritetet në Prishtinë, Bashkimi Evropian dhe diplomatët perëndimorë kanë kërkuar vënien e autorëve të sulmit para drejtësisë. Prishtina ka akuzuar Beogradin për mbështetjen dhe pajisjen e grupit që kreu sulmin.

“Serbia ka treguar herë pas here se përbën rrezik për Kosovën, fqinjët e saj dhe komunitetit ndërkombëtar më gjerë. Shtetet e Bashkuara dhe Bashkimi Evropian nuk mund ta trajtojnë më Serbinë si një partner i besueshëm ndërkohë që ajo furnizon dhe tani strehon terroristë të armatosur rëndë”, thuhet në letër.

Ministria e Punëve të Brendshme të Serbisë tha të martën se ka arrestuar Milan Radoiçiçin. Presidenti i Serbisë, Aleksandar Vuçiç i ka mohuar lidhjet me grupin e armatosur. Ai ka akuzuar Prishtinën zyrtare për nxitje të dhunës në veri./ VOA
