Five people identified as members of a religious group called "Soldiers of Christ" have been arrested in connection with the death of a South Korean girl. The latter was left without exercise and was brutally beaten for weeks by the group members.
The victim was a woman in her 30s, and her body was found Tuesday evening in the trunk of a car parked outside Jeju Sauna, a popular South Korean spa located in Duluth, about 25 miles north of Atlanta.
The medical examiner's office believes malnutrition may have been a contributing factor in the woman's death, but the exact cause of death is still under investigation, according to police. Detectives believe the woman moved to the United States from South Korea this summer "with the intention of joining a religious organization," the agency said.
The police arrested: Eriv Hyun, 26 years old; Joonho Lee, 26; Hyunji Lee, 25; and Juoonhyum Lee, 22. Another arrested person is a 15-year-old, whose identity is still unknown.
The South Korean consulate in Atlanta declined to comment on the case when contacted by CNN.
