Ivanka Trump will have to testify in the case against her father

Ivanka Trump must take the witness stand in a civil fraud case against her father, her brothers and their family business, a judge ruled Friday.

The decision came a few weeks after the trial of the lawsuit of the Attorney General of New York Letitia James against the former president Donald Trump, sons Don Jr. and Eric, the Trump Organization and several executives.

After Ivanka Trump was dismissed as a defendant months ago, defense attorneys and her attorney argued that she should not testify, noting that she moved out of New York and quit her job at the Trump Organization in 2017. state argued that the former executive vice president of the Trump Organization has relevant information.

Judge Arthur Engoron sided with the state, citing documents showing that Ivanka Trump continued to have ties to several New York businesses and still owns apartments in Manhattan.

James' lawsuit accuses the former president of overstating his wealth for years in financial statements provided to banks, insurers and others to help secure loans and deals.

The defendants deny the allegations. Donald Trump, the current Republican presidential candidate in 2024, has called the trial a politically motivated "fraud."
