Over 7,000 people killed in Hamas/ EU leaders call for a ceasefire

The balance of victims of the Israel-Hamas war is deepening, as the bombings in Gaza continue.

More than 1,400 were killed in the initial attacks on Israel by Hamas. But from Israel's counterattack in Gaza, more than 7,000 people have lost their lives.

These figures have been confirmed by the Ministry of Health, which is run by Hamas.

Hamas has declared yesterday evening that around 50 hostages held in Gaza have been killed as a result of Israel's bombing.

While Israel continues its aerial bombardment and prepares for a national attack, the situation in Gaza is not good at all for the displaced citizens.

They have run out of energy and food reserves are running low. For this reason, EU leaders have called for a ceasefire, or what they call a "humanitarian pause" to send urgently needed aid to Gaza.

The UN General Assembly will vote this Friday on the immediate ceasefire. The draft resolution calls for unlimited humanitarian aid and compliance with international humanitarian law./ CNA
