He entered a zoo cage/ 19-year-old in Brazil dies after being attacked by lions

A 19-year-old man was attacked by lions at a zoo in Brazil on Sunday. According to local media, the 19-year-old, Gerson de Mello Machado, suffered from psychological problems.

In a video recorded by visitors to the Arruda Câmara Zoo, the young man is seen descending from a tree and immediately being attacked by lions.

Local authorities said the 19-year-old first climbed a 6-meter-high wall, then crossed barbed wire and finally crawled up a tree to get down into the lion's cage.

After the accident, the zoo was closed until further notice, while authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy, claiming that the company was implementing all safety measures. /CNA
