Iranian governor: Death toll at girls' school has risen

Iranian officials claim that dozens of people were killed in an attack on a girls' school in southern Iran on Saturday.

Mohammad Radmehr, the governor of Mindab district, where the attack reportedly took place, said the death toll had risen to at least 63 students and 92 others were injured. Others were still trapped under the rubble, he added.

"The destroyed building is a primary school for girls in southern Iran. It was bombed in broad daylight, when it was full of young students," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragghchi said in a post on X.

Asked about the attack, CENTCOM spokesman Tim Hawkins said that "we are aware of reports of civilian casualties resulting from ongoing military operations."
