US President Donald Trump said today that the military has begun major combat operations in Iran after Israel launched what he called a "preemptive" attack on Tehran on Saturday morning.
"Our objective is to protect the American people by eliminating the immediate threat from the Iranian regime," Trump said.
Trump has posted an eight-minute video on the 'Truth Social' platform and confirms the act
Tensions in the region have been high as Washington and Tehran try to reach a deal to limit Iran's nuclear activities.
Saturday's attacks come as the US has assembled a large fleet of fighter jets and warships in the region to try to pressure Iran into reaching a deal. /CNA
