Body of missing Russian businessman found in Cyprus

Authorities in Cyprus announced that the body found in January on a beach near the village of Avdimou, on the island's southern coast, has been identified through DNA as that of Vladislav Baumgertner, a Russian businessman who was reported missing on January 7.

Baumgertner, 56, was a prominent businessman and former CEO of Russian mineral waste company Uralkali, one of the world's leading potash producers. He had lived for years in Limassol, Cyprus.

Baumgertner's body was identified through a DNA test and his family was notified of his death.

The investigation into the circumstances and cause of death is ongoing, being conducted by local police within the areas of British military bases. /CNA
