Elon Musk has sharply attacked Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez after the latter announced that he was preparing to ban social media for people under the age of 16. This is part of a package of measures to protect the mental health and safety of young people online.

Sanchez criticized Musk for using the "X" to amplify misinformation about his government's decision last week to legalize 500,000 illegal immigrants and asylum seekers, noting that the South African tycoon himself is an immigrant.

Meanwhile, Musk, in a post on "X", described Sanchez as a tyrant.

"Dirty Sanchez is a tyrant and traitor to the people of Spain," Musk initially said.

However, his posts didn't stop there, as a little later he wrote "Sanchez is the real fascist totalitarian."

In addition to Spain, Greece is also close to announcing a similar ban for children under 15. Both countries appear set to follow the lead of countries such as Britain and France in adopting a stricter stance on social media, after Australia in December became the first country to ban access to such platforms for children under 16. /CNA
