PSG's Champions League victory celebrated with riots/ Hundreds arrested and

A total of 219 people have been injured in clashes between football fans and police across France after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the Champions League final against Arsenal.

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said eight people were in serious condition. Thousands of officers were deployed to quell the riots that disrupted bus, train and rail services in Paris, with 57 injured. Nunez said 780 people had been arrested in connection with the violence.

Far-right leader Marine Le Pen reacted to the riots through a post on "X", where she wrote: " Only in France does the victory of a football club cause riots. Only in France does everyone feel forced to lock themselves in their homes on the evening of a victory to avoid facing violence."

Meanwhile, around 6,000 police have been deployed for Sunday's victory parade, which has already begun. The parade began at around 6pm local time, with fans filling the streets to cheer on PSG players and staff. The celebrations include a visit to the Champ-de-Mars near the Eiffel Tower and a reception by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The scenes from Paris were similar to the celebrations of PSG's victory last year. The riots were similar when PSG won the same trophy last year, with the celebrations turning deadly. /CNA
