Ukrainian authorities said 11 people were killed and at least 17 injured in Russian attacks in Kharkiv and Kherson on Saturday.
Three people were killed in an unprecedented scale Russian attack in Kharkiv, the mayor of Ukraine's second-largest city, Ihor Terekhov, said.
Two more people were killed in Kherson, according to the governor of the region of the same name, Oleksandr Prokudin.
Kharkiv suffered the most powerful attack since the start of the war in February 2022, Terekhov told local media, speaking of at least 40 explosions in a short period of time.
"The enemy simultaneously launched missiles, Shahed drones and guided aerial bombs. At least 48 drones, two missiles and four guided bombs were used in the Russian attack," he said.
Two people were killed and at least 17 others were injured in an attack on a house in the Kievsky district.
Kharkiv, a city of more than 1.4 million people before the war, most of whom are Russian speakers, is located less than 50 kilometers from the border with Russia, in northeastern Ukraine, and is often the target of Russian attacks. /CNA
