Donald Trump: Iran's leaders 'afraid' to accept negotiations with

US President Donald Trump said Iran's leaders are "afraid" to publicly admit they are negotiating with the United States, amid ongoing tensions between the two countries.

His statement came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told state media that Iran "has no intention of negotiating at the moment" and that the country would continue to "defend" itself.

However, mixed messages from Washington suggest that the US administration does not yet have a clear exit strategy. According to White House sources, the US is "very close" to achieving its objectives, while Iran is allegedly looking for a way out of the conflict.

On the other hand, an Iranian official has announced that Tehran has presented five conditions for ending the war, including stopping the conflict "on all fronts" and paying reparations.

The reports come as Iran is said to have received a 15-point plan from the US. Initially, Tehran rejected the proposal, but Araghchi later left open the possibility of a new stance, stating that "if a decision needs to be made, it will certainly be determined."/ CNA
