"Shoulder to shoulder" with a humanoid robot/ Melania Trump's

A humanoid robot took center stage on the second day of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump's international conference on artificial intelligence in education. The robot escorted Melania Trump down a White House hallway before addressing guests, welcoming them in several languages.

The First Lady will host leaders' spouses from around the world this week as part of her "Energizing the Future" initiative, which focuses on improving children's lives through education and technology.

The aim of the action is to harness the potential of artificial intelligence while addressing the potential risks associated with its rapid development.

"Our world is being transformed, and through artificial intelligence we can now access the knowledge accumulated over centuries of human history," said Melania Trump, emphasizing that it is the state's obligation to ensure that the next generation has a high level of technological knowledge and education.

As she noted, investing in children's education and technology training is a key factor in maintaining the United States' economic strength in the long term.

The initiative was first presented in September at the UN General Assembly, with representatives from 45 countries attending the meeting.

The first day of work focused on the use of artificial intelligence in education, digital skills, online safety, and educational technology (EdTech) tools, which include software and digital applications for use in classrooms.

On the second day of the event, Melania Trump gave the floor to French First Lady Brigitte Macron, who emphasized the need to protect against "deepfakes" (digital videos created with artificial intelligence that can realistically reproduce faces and situations).

She also stressed the importance of limiting the use of mobile phones and portable devices by young children, especially those under three years old, as well as excessive exposure to social media.  /CNA
