Brënabi? appreciates the letter of European and American legislators as

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, wrote in X on August 8 that the letter of the European and American legislators, through which they demanded a tougher approach towards Serbia, is "welcome", as according to her, this is "living proof" that her Kosovar counterpart, Albin Kurti, actually enjoys " full support and encouragement for undermining peace and stability in the Balkans".

On August 7, dozens of politicians from Europe and the United States sent a letter to the head of diplomacy of the European bloc, Josep Borrell, the American chief diplomat, Antony Blinken, and the British one, James Cleverly. Through this letter, they requested a change of approach towards Kosovo and Serbia.

British MP Alicia Kearns, who published the letter, said it was signed by ten foreign affairs committee chairmen and 56 MPs.

Among the signatories of this letter are US Senator Bob Menendez and Congressman Ritchie Torres.

This letter was welcomed by the president of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who said that it exposes "Serbia's destructive and destabilizing agenda".

In the letter it was said that "Kosovo has faced great consequences after the attempts of the mayors to enter their offices in the north of Kosovo".

"Kosovo should coordinate with KFOR in the future to prevent escalations. But the lack of pressure on Serbia after the arbitrary detention of three Kosovo policemen and the failure to hold accountable those who carried out attacks on KFOR highlight the lack of equality in addressing tensions," the letter said .

At a time of rising tensions, three Kosovo police officers were arrested by Serbian forces on June 14. Kosovo said they were "abducted" within its terror, but Serbia said it arrested them "deep inside" Serbian territory. The policemen were released on June 26.

Bërnabiq wrote on the X network that the most impressive example of the lack of credibility and objectivity of the initiators of the letter is that Alicia Kearns, "managed to become one of the few people whose public statements were denied by KFOR".

Bërnabiq referred to a statement that Kearns made on July 4, when he said that weapons were being smuggled from Serbia to Kosovo through ambulances and that they were being "stored" in the buildings of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

On July 5, the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, stated that the case referred to by the British MP dates back to 2022, when a British infantry battalion was involved in the north of Kosovo to support KFOR.

"The alleged presence of illegal weapons was reported to the KFOR Headquarters, but after further investigations, no evidence was found" for smuggling, KFOR declared.

On the same day, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, declared that work was being done to verify the information presented by the British MP./REL
