Analysts: Montenegro in the final stage of negotiations with the EU

Official Brussels, these days, warned that in June of this year, Montenegro could enter the final phase of membership negotiations with the European Union. Analysts see progress on the path to membership with the European Union, and believe that Montenegro will enter the final stage of negotiations. They said that due to the situation in the region and the war in Ukraine, official Brussels intends to give impetus to the enlargement and Montenegro in this situation can benefit the most.

The European Commission is working closely with Montenegro to help it meet standards in the area of ??the rule of law. In this context, officials from Brussels warned that in June of this year, Montenegro could enter the final phase of membership negotiations with the European Union.

Analysts Bekim Çobaj and Ismet Kallaba see a progress in the journey towards membership with the European Union, and believe that Montenegro will enter the final stage of negotiations.

" Montenegro has had some small successes, which led it to complete these precautionary measures for the so-called IBAR report that is compiled by the European Commission and which shows the advancement of a certain country, in this case Montenegro " , says analyst Bekim Çobaj.

Meanwhile, analyst Ismet Kallaba said that: "it is in the hands of the European Union and I think that the signals coming from the EU should also be looked at in this prism. If we take into account the past, we know that several other countries, first of all Bulgaria and Romania, did not complete the requirements to become a member of the EU and were nevertheless accepted."

Analysts believe that the European Union, due to the situation with the war in Ukraine, will turn a blind eye to the fulfillment of certain conditions.

Analyst Ismet Kallaba said that " given the conditions and circumstances, but also taking into account the situation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, where there is also a real risk of deviating the course of the Western Balkan countries, I think that the EU will close them eyes towards the fulfillment of the conditions and will do everything to align and accept these countries as soon as possible ".

Analyst Çobaj says that " the main focus is on chapters 23 and 24, which deal with the most important areas, such as the fight against organized crime, the fight against corruption, the removal of political influence from the judiciary, media freedom, etc. and it is expected that Montenegro will receive a positive opinion in this report in June. But nothing is certain because the EC and the EU want these achievements to be concrete and not just promises ."

Analyst Çobaj estimates that due to the situation in the region and the war in Ukraine, official Brussels intends to give impetus to expansion and Montenegro can gain the most in this situation.

" The government of Montenegro can be optimistic because it is clear that after the developments in Ukraine, the EU intends to give an impetus to the expansion and Montenegro is the country that can benefit the most at the moment ," he emphasizes./ VOA
