On Monday, the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo filed an indictment against the former vice-president of the Municipality of Kllokot Sasha Mirkovic, under the suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of "violation of the free determination of voters".

Through a press release, the Prosecutor's Office said that Mirkovic, together with the former mayor of Kllokot Bozhidar Dejanovic, threatened the Serbian citizens of the municipality, in order to influence their electoral will for the 2021 parliamentary elections.

Dejanovi? was sentenced in 2022 to one year of conditional imprisonment for committing the same criminal offense as the one for which Mirkovi? is suspected.

"The convict BD, in the capacity of the Mayor of the Municipality, secured votes in an illegal manner for the political entity 'Lista Serbe', while the defendant SM, in the capacity of the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Kllokot, secured votes for the political entity number 129 'Ujedinjina' Zajdenica - Ardiana Hoxhic'.

At this stage of the procedure, the court has said that the defendant will be defended at liberty.

Kllokoti is a municipality inhabited by a majority of Serbs and is located 55 kilometers from Pristina.

In the early parliamentary elections of February 14, 2021, Lista Serbe - the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo - has been accused by the parties of non-Serb communities, of having helped two Bosniak and Roma entities to win seats in the Assembly of Kosovo .
