It may happen that you have ever visited a city and left with such a good vibe from it. The quality of life also varies in different countries. But which are the most livable cities in the world?
This is shown by the list published by the Global Liveability Index, whose results are determined by examining a multitude of factors, including the quality of health care, education, cultural scene, infrastructure, etc.
Below you find the cities that were ranked in the list of 10 most livable cities in the world:
10. Auckland, New Zealand
Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, rose 25 points to reach 10th position in this year's index.
9. Toronto, Canada
Toronto is another consistent performer when it comes to the annual rankings. While it dropped from 8th to 9th in 2023, its sustainability score increased this year.
8. Geneva, Switzerland
Geneva has again retained a place in the top 10 this year. While falling from 6th to 7th place, the Swiss city saw an increase in education scores this year. It is generally rated as one of the best cities to live in.
7. Calgary, Canada
It was ranked third in 2022, but this year the largest city in the province of Alberta has fallen to seventh place.
6. Zurich, Switzerland
It was also rated as one of the most expensive cities in the world to live and work as an expat, according to Mercer's 2022 Cost of Living Survey. It was second only to Hong Kong in the consulting firm's annual report.
5. Vancouver, Canada
Vancouver is a place that doesn't move from fifth place, with its sustainability score up from last year after anti-vaccine protests dragged it down.
4. Sydney, Australia
Its health care system has received a perfect score. The city's education and infrastructure also scored 100.
3. Melbourne, Australia
Melbourne's ranking was hurt by significant pressures on many aspects of city life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Several waves of the virus threatened to overwhelm the city's health care system, but this year, this particular factor has been given a perfect score.
2. Copenhagen, Denmark
Denmark is consistently ranked as one of the happiest places in the world to live, and this is certainly reflected in the scores for each category in the Economist's Living report. It continues to score highly in all areas including perfect scores for education, infrastructure and stability.
1. Vienna, Austria
Vienna retains its crown as the most livable city in the world for another year. The Austrian capital has dominated the ranking in the last 10 surveys, coming out first in eight of them./CNA, al
