South Korea's opposition leader has been stabbed during a press conference in the southern port city of Busan.

Lee Jae-Myung, who lost the presidential election in 2022, was stabbed in the neck on Tuesday morning.

The attacker was arrested at the scene.

Mr Lee suffered a 1cm laceration and was treated in hospital while conscious, reports said. Police said his wound was not life-threatening.

The attacker was a man aged around 60-70 years. According to foreign media, he approached Mr. Lee asking for an autograph and then stabbed him.

The attacker has not revealed the reasons why he shot the leader of the opposition.
