The Albanian Institute of Sciences, AIS, has revealed the figure that political parties in our country have benefited from the taxes of Albanians in 10 years.

According to the data published on the " Open Data Albania " page, 51 parties have benefited from ALL 2.174 billion from taxpayers in the period 2012-2022.

1.784 billion ALL have been distributed for the normal annual activities of political parties, while 390 million ALL are allocated for electoral campaigns (General Election 2013, Local Election 2015, General Election 2017, General Election 2019, and General Election 2021).

Budget expenditures as support for Political Parties for Election Campaigns have been in the amount of 65 million ALL until 2021, while this year these transfers have doubled to 130 million ALL.

On average, in an electoral year, 265 million ALL were transferred from the State Budget as support for political parties, while in non-electoral years, 170 million ALL were allocated to parties, or 36% less. In total, in electoral and non-electoral years, an average of 217.4 million ALL was transferred from the State Budget.

Treasury data show that over the years the Socialist Party has benefited from the highest value of transfers from the State Budget. The difference is the years 2012 and 2014, when the Democratic Party is the one that has benefited the most public funds.

The year with the highest public funding is 2022, followed by 2017./ CNA.al
