The normative act for the 20% reduction of excise duty on oil and gasoline is

The government has approved a normative act to reduce the excise duty on oil and gasoline by 20%. Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj has explained that the decision will be implemented if the retail price, determined by the Transparency Board, is: Over 220 lek per liter for oil and Over 200 lek per liter for gasoline.

"Just as Prime Minister Edi Rama promised at the beginning of the meeting to take concrete and tangible measures to amortize the effects produced as a result of the conflict in Iran, the Albanian government today has undertaken the Normative Act to reduce excise duty, as a result of the increase in oil prices in international markets, especially in the last 48 hours.

This Normative Act provides for a 20% reduction in excise duty if the retail price, determined by the Transparency Board, is:

Over 220 lek per liter for diesel;

"Over 200 lek per liter for gasoline."

According to the Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj, this Normative Act will be in force until the international situation is fully stabilized.

We are fully committed to responding responsibly to every challenge, protecting Albanian citizens from the financial effects produced as a result of this conflict, but also to protecting the state budget and the economy of our country, especially at a critical moment like the one the world is facing today.

The board has notified operators that it will meet today. Oil is currently trading at 218 lek and is expected to go beyond the 220 lek limit, which automatically activates a 20% reduction in oil excise duty, according to the government's decision. /Monitor
