Governor Gent Sejko: Base interest rate lowered to 2.5%

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sekjo, announced today one of the important decisions taken today, July 2, 2025, by the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.

The Council considered and approved the Interim Monetary Policy Report.

After discussing the economic and monetary developments in the country and their expected performance, the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania decided:

to reduce the base interest rate from 2.75% to 2.50%;

to reduce the overnight loan interest rate from 3.75% to 3.50%.

to lower the overnight deposit interest rate from 1.75% to 1.50% ./CNA
