Reading the election results, according to comparative figures with 2021, but also 2017, while being down to earth, shows us that the DP and the opposition, beyond excuses for theft or vote buying, must see the reality of the ballot boxes.

A reality of boxes which comes from the result that we read beyond the accusations.

READING THE RESULTS

The Socialists within the country, that is, in Albania, have about 734 thousand votes and compared to 2021, the Socialist Party has about 34-35 thousand fewer voters.  So, from about 770 thousand in 2021, in 2025 there are about 735 thousand, a decrease of 4-5%.

The DP and its allies, including the Freedom Party, the PDIU, and a bunch of other parties within the country, received about 480 thousand votes out of about 620 thousand in 2021. Here we must take into account one detail, in 2021 the LSI competed alone and the DP had about 620 thousand with its allies. With all the votes of the LSI, 110 thousand, the opposition had 730 thousand votes.

While today the DP plus LSI plus PDIU has 480 thousand votes only within the country. The DP plus LSI lacks about 250 thousand votes from 2021. This is a fact, according to the election results, which means that the former LSI, today the Freedom Party, has become "straw and straw", it no longer has any votes.

Although in Tirana we can see a fairly readable result to understand this electoral catastrophe of the Freedom Party and Ilir Meta, let's then analyze the PDIU as well.

The Freedom Party has received 2 safe mandates in Tirana, Tedi Blushin and Erisa Xhixhon,  two mandates that should at least bring the opposition around 23 thousand votes according to the number of votes that belong to one mandate, so around 11 thousand votes, 1 mandate.

Meanwhile, Ilir Meta himself was able to receive around 7-8 thousand votes, being the third candidate on the open list.

So, all three together, if Ilir Meta had won, along with the two candidates above, they should have brought 30-40 thousand votes, just in Tirana, the missing votes are not there. This is what happens all over Albania.

This is also the case in Elbasan, where the SMI has around 2000-2500 votes with one candidate on the open list and has Edmond Haxhinaston on the safe list.

FREEDOM PARTY, THE DIVIDED PARTY

The former LSI, today the Freedom Party, is a shattered party, without votes, without voters, claiming that in 2021 it has 110 thousand votes, in 2017 it has 220 thousand votes, but in fact the PL probably has fewer votes in all of Albania than Vangjel Dule's party.

Even the latter, PBDNJ, with an electoral weight in southern Albania, in Korça, Gjirokastra, and Vlora, has no votes, its bag is empty.

His candidate in Vlora gets about 2,000 votes, Dule is a sure MP. So, he can't even get the votes for one mandate as an MP.

Thus, from the open list, the candidates of the allied parties should have at least received the votes they were entitled to for a candidate on the safe list for MP.

LSI has taken safe seats, PBDNJ has taken safe seats, PDIU has taken a safe seat in Tirana and Shpëtim Idrizi on the open list, about 2 thousand votes were received by the leader of PDIU himself. Mesila Doda won. PDIU could not bring the votes for a mandate in Tirana.

So, if you add up the missing votes of the allies, which are, according to their claims, quite large, SMI with 3 secure mandates and 3-4 names on the open list, PDIU with one secure mandate, 2-3 on the open list, the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, PBDNJ, and so on, there are about 100 thousand or 150 thousand votes that the DP-ASHM Coalition lacks in the elections of May 11, 2025.

SMALL PARTIES

Beyond Berisha's allies, the parties in coalition with the DP are also the new small parties. They are an indisputable electoral factor, who have shown that through work in the electorate, mandates and votes can be secured.

In fact, there are votes that have not been translated into as many mandates as they were entitled to, but those votes that Sali Berisha's allies lack, that LSI, PDIU, PBDNJ, PAA, the old small parties lack or the votes that Dashi Shehi with Alibeaj or Lulzim Basha himself with a slanderous coalition could not get, in the end, compared to the new small parties that emerged in these elections, there is a fundamental difference.

The only traditional one among the small old parties that has been able to resist and get votes is the PSD, which has its stronghold in Shkodra and has secured around 50,000 votes within the country alone.

But, behind it, Agron Shehaj's "Mundësia" Party, a new party, in a short period secured around 44 thousand votes within the country.

The "Shqipëria Bëhet" (Shqipëria Becomes Initiative) coalition , where Lapaj and Endri Shabani have joined forces, has secured around 50,000 votes within the country.

So, we are faced with the fact that two new parties, the "Opportunity" Party and the "Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet", have around 100 thousand votes, and taking into account Arlind Qori's "Together Movement", there are around 120 thousand votes .

So, the total of the votes of the allies and the missing votes, they are there, they are in the box.

The Socialists did not receive more votes than in 2021, the Socialists have about 34-35 thousand fewer votes than in 2021.

The problem lies with the DP, its allies and the new parties.

The DP's allies, the small parties that are allied with the DP, which are actually as old as the DP, such as the LSI that turned into the Freedom Party, the PDIU, the PAA, etc., and some small parties that only have a leader and do not fill a taxi with votes, let alone a van, have not brought a single vote to the DP, which has around 480 thousand votes in 2025.  It lacks the votes of allies within the coalition.

Meanwhile, the small new parties that emerged from these elections have wreaked havoc with votes. We are talking about the Opportunity Party, the Albania Is Made Initiative coalition, with around 50 thousand votes, and if we look at Lulzim Basha and Dashamir Shehi, they have received around 25 thousand votes within the country.

The Euro-Atlantic Coalition has about 20 thousand votes throughout Albania and the Right Coalition for Development has about 5 thousand votes.

So, about 25 thousand votes are these two small segments that can be called old names hidden in new parties.

The votes are there, but they are scattered, with new small parties and old small parties in alliance with the DP unable to bring any votes to the DP's pocket.

They took the names on the safe list and put their minds to sleep. This is what happened.

The Freedom Party was not in the campaign, the PDIU is a defeated party, which has some electoral weight, the other parties are names of individuals who can take a van with votes, or whether or not they can fill a bus with votes.

SMALL PARTIES ALLIED WITH THE DP, FAILED

These elections showed that the small parties allied with the DP are already shattered, disfigured, and failed.

And, the 2025 elections configured several new parties, which appear small, but which have received a large number of votes and due to the formula and electoral system have fewer mandates, but the opposition's wound lies with allied parties and new small parties .

This is where the difference in votes was made, and it is also one of the main keys to the success of the Socialists, who alone were able to receive more votes than the DP and its allies, whose votes were then split among the new parties that actually ultimately served the success of Prime Minister Rama, who with his party with fewer votes than in 2021 has received 9 more mandates, moving towards a constitutional coalition./ CNA
