The next case covered on the show "Stop", this Thursday, May 21, is related to a civil status issue, where whistleblower Elisabeta Toskaj tells her story amidst the vicissitudes.

She says she married her husband in 2003, after he had previously been married and divorced. The couple lived for about 15 years in the United States, where they both had American citizenship and built their lives through work and investments.

Upon returning to Albania, they faced a serious problem with their civil status documentation. On the certificates, the husband was still listed as divorced, while Mrs. Toskaj was listed as married to a foreign citizen, not reflecting their real marriage.

To resolve this problem, they went to court. The Court of First Instance decided to correct the data, recognizing the factual situation.

However, the case was appealed and the legal delays lasted for years. During this time, while waiting for a final decision, Mrs. Toskaj's husband passed away after 7 years of waiting, just a few months before the Court of Appeals was to rule.

In conclusion, the Court of Appeal upheld the First Instance decision, accepting the correction of the certificates.

But, despite this decision, the husband continues to appear as divorced on the death certificate.

"I am almost dead, because without those certificates, I cannot do anything, not only in Albania but also in the US, where I am a citizen of that country. From 2003 until today, we have built many things with my husband and today I am outside of everything we have built, because I am excluded from the evidence of my husband's inheritance."

As a result, citizen Elisabeta Toskaj is not recognized as his wife nor as his legal heir, both in Albania and in the USA. / Tv klan
