The elected Socialist Party MP candidate from the May 11 elections, Agron Malaj, has two files at SPAK that are being intensively investigated.

However, the former mayor of Mati and former guard of January 21, has committed several other criminal offenses.

CNA has previously published documents that in 1999, Agron Malaj, along with ED, were arrested for intentional light injury and illegal possession of a weapon. Of these criminal offenses, the former guard was convicted of only one of them, that of illegal possession of a weapon.

Why wasn't Agron Malaj convicted of assault?

In 1999, Agron Malaj and BB had argued over damage to a motorcycle caused by the former mayor of Mat, then 19 years old, and his friend, ED. According to documents, Malaj and ED had compensated BB for the motorcycle.

On March 29, 1999, these three people met in a bar and after arguing, the incident ended with the use of a weapon. Agron Malaj shot BB with a firearm and as a result the latter was injured along with A. Gj., who was a witness at the scene.

The court's decision states that ED, who was accompanying Agron Malaj, fired a gun into the air without permission, to prevent any interaction from other people. The two then left the scene.

However, Agron Malaj and his friend were convicted by the Mati Court only for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed Weapon Possession" and the case for intentional light injury was dismissed by the prosecution. The reason for the dismissal of the case was the withdrawal of the complaint by the injured persons, BB and A. Gj.

Thus, the panel of judges of the Court of Mat, headed by Artan Çupi and with members Murat Lleshi and Ali Koleci, has imposed a sentence of 10 months in prison for the elected candidate of the Socialist Party, Agron Malaj, for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed Weapon Possession". The serving of the sentence for Agron Malaj has begun from the moment the decision was issued.

For the same criminal offense, the Mati Court also sentenced Malaj's friend, ED, to 4 months in prison.

But the elected Socialist Party candidate is suspected of being involved in several criminal offenses along with his brother Fatos Malaj and Elvin Tivarin.

It is suspected that the directors of the Municipality of Tirana and Agron Malaj himself, through the company "Global Security" and other businesses, exchanged tenders with each other, both in the Municipality of Tirana and in that of Mat.

CNA will continue to publish exclusive data, which will break down Agron Malaj's companies./ CNA
