Documents - Veliaj is deceiving the CEC?!
Erion Veliaj

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, was arrested by decision of the GJKKO and at the request of SPAK a day ago, following investigations into illegal benefits received by him and his family members.

CNA has revealed the decision of the Criminal Court of Kosovo, which states that Erion Veliaj is suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials", committed in collaboration (9 times) and "Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity", provided for by articles 260 and 25 and 287/2 of the Criminal Code.

The decision revealed by CNA showed how Veliaj had lied to prosecutors when questioned that he was unaware of the activities his wife had carried out, but in fact the communications revealed by SPAK have shown the opposite.

But Erion Veliaj is not the man who lies only to prosecutors and BKH officers, but has also lied to the CEC.

According to the decriminalization document dated 24.03.2023 of Erion Veliaj at the CEC, the mayor has declared himself "not convicted".

But in the Court's decision document, on the first page, the mayor's judicial status is highlighted, where it says convicted.

Documents - Veliaj is deceiving the CEC?!

"According to the Electronic Certificate of judicial status with no. 5488 Prot. dated 23.01.2025 generated by the investigator of the National Bureau of Investigation, which is located in file 63," the file states.

So, in file 63 of the file on Erion Veliaj, it is stated that Erion Veliaj's judicial status is "convicted".

We must emphasize that the decision of the Court and the Prosecutor's Office contains many fragments and thousands of pages and other fragments.

It is also noted that there are other parallel investigations and they are ongoing.

Erion Veliaj not only lied to SPAK, saying he knew nothing about his wife's activities, selling her out, but he also shamelessly deceived the CEC.

At the CEC, he declares that he has not been convicted, while SPAK declares him convicted.

It is important to emphasize that if he received the sentence before 2023 and did not declare it, or received it later and did not declare it, i.e. he hid this sentence, Erion Veliaj should not have remained in office.  The CEC should have continued the procedures for his investigation.

The documents clearly show how Veliaj lied to the CEC and deceived it that he was not convicted, while SPAK clearly says that he is "convicted"./ CNA
