Arson/ Minister Hoxha warns: Those who endanger nature will be held responsible

Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha spoke about the fire situation in the country, stating that it has been one of the most difficult years in terms of fires.

Hoxha took stock, saying that there have been 59 large fires and 961 small fires in the country.

The minister stressed that the majority of fires in the country have been deliberately set, while warning that those who endanger nature will be held accountable.

"Most fires are intentional. This has been one of the most difficult years in terms of fires. To date, the country has had 59 major fires, 961 were small fires, such as in homes or pastures.

Faced with this situation, our response has been immediate. The extraordinary mobilization has yielded results, we have had no loss of life and the spread of the fire to critical infrastructure has been stopped.

But, 2 officers were injured, in a heroic act. Police officer Agim Troci, chief of the Delvina police station, is out of danger, having been injured while intervening in a fire in an apartment.

As for fires, we are dealing more with the human factor, sometimes there are deliberate arsonists, but also unintentional arsonists.

 A total of 120 people have been prosecuted for arson and 21 have been arrested. This criminal offense, which is related to intentional arson, should be harsher in punishment.

"Those who endanger life and nature will be held responsible. The predictions are that August will also be difficult for us, so the responsibility is great," said Hoxha./ CNA
