Fire at the incinerator of Elbasan/ Plumes of smoke "occupy" the area

On Wednesday, the waste field in the Elbasan incinerator was engulfed in flames, causing plumes of smoke and the risk of an environmental disaster in the surrounding area. 

It is reported that the fire is very active and the fire service forces are at the scene and are working to extinguish them. 

At the moment, the causes of the fire are not clear, but it is suspected that the flames may have been favored by the prevailing high temperatures. 

It is not the first time that the Elbasan incinerator has been engulfed in flames. 

Even during the summer of 2023, there was a fire at the landfill, which was extinguished after a few days with the intervention of hundreds of fire service, emergency and military forces./ CNA
