The fire at the Bushati landfill has been going on for three days, increasing concerns about air pollution and the risk to the health of residents.

DP MP Kliti Hoti has called on institutions, especially the Regional Directorate of Environment in Lezha, to conduct urgent air measurements for the presence of dioxin, as well as analyses of groundwater and agricultural land.

According to him, dioxin is classified by the World Health Organization as a group one carcinogen and he called for immediate measures to minimize the risk to the area and city of Shkodra.

"I am at the Bushati landfill today. The third day, the fire continues. The Regional Environment Directorate based in Lezha must take urgent measures to measure the air, dioxin air pollution in the air, groundwater, wells, and of course the soil of crops. It is a necessity because the World Health Organization classifies dioxin as a group one carcinogen and the effect continues for 7 to 11 years. It should not be neglected, it is very important for the residents of the area, but also for Shkodra.
