Prime Minister Edi Rama has given Anri Kashik's family members the status of "Martyr of the Fatherland", after the young man lost his life trying to save his brother on the beach of Durrës.

Rama said that the benefit of this status of martyr does not extinguish the grief and deep pain of the family members, but maybe it eases their wound a little.

The head of the government emphasized that Anri became a hero not only of his brother, but of all Albanians.

"Nuk ishte vetëm familja, të afërmit, miqtë shokët, komuniteti i zonës, ishte e gjithë Shqipëria që u prek me zemër dhe që me mendje qëndroi për një moment tek ky i ri që sikundër më tregoi babi kishte pasion futbollin. Donte të bëhej një futbollist i mirë dhe i njohur dhe që nuk ia doli dot sepse rrethanat fati e vendosën. Ai u bë heroi i të vëllait, por edhe heroi i të gjithë shqiptarëve. Përfitimi i këtij statusi të dëshmorit nuk e shuan pikëllimin e thellë të familjarëve, dhimbjen, por mbase lehtëson sadopak një plagë që fatkeqësisht do qëndrojë aty në zemrën e babit familjarëve vëllait dhe të afërmve.
