On the beach of Shengjin, some of the tents have remained closed, due to the decrease in the number of vacationers compared to last year, even though we are in the middle of July.

Due to the price crisis, citizens say that they have reduced the number of days they stay at the beach.

"This year only five days, before we stayed two weeks, now only 5. We come from the Municipality of Gjilan. Prices have increased by more than 50%", said a citizen.

"This year we came, next year we will go to another country. 10 thousand lek per tent, up there 15 thousand lek per person, here in Dubai are we? Next year I will go to Greece, they are cheaper than here. Only Kosovars and those living abroad come here," said another.

Even merchants near the beaches say that there is a decrease in work due to fewer vacationers.

"Completely empty, it's been 15 days. Saturday and Sunday there was something, but not like years. This year they were very surprised with the increase in prices", said a trader.

The Balkan Barometer for 2022 showed that 60% of Albanians cannot afford the expenses for one week of vacation per year. This was the highest percentage in the region./Euronews
