Heavy traffic at Bllata Customs after the collapse of the road in Librazhd

This Wednesday afternoon, a serious traffic situation has been created at the Bllata Customs, on the border between Albania and North Macedonia.

The traffic diversion was the result of the collapse of a road segment in the Librazhd area, which forced authorities to redirect all traffic towards the Bllata border crossing.

Over the past few days, the line of trucks entering Albania from Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and North Macedonia has reached over 4 kilometers.

The increased flow, combined with limited processing capacities on both sides at customs and with narrow road infrastructure, has led to significant delays.

The opening of the Arbri Road, which has shortened the Skopje-Tirana distance by about 85 kilometers compared to the Qafë-Thana route, has also had an impact on the increase in traffic. As a result, a significant portion of transport vehicles have chosen this route.

Current vehicle and passenger processing capacities, as well as the lack of sufficient space, are causing long queues every day, creating difficulties for drivers and international transport operators./ CNA
