UBT Scandal/Teachers Appear at SPAK

This Monday, around 15 employees, part of the staff of the Agricultural University of Tirana, appeared before the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK). The GJKKO has imposed "compulsory appearance" measures against them.

They are under investigation after being accused of committing violations in 9 procurement procedures conducted in 2022 by the Agricultural University, with a procurement value of 90 million new lek (900 million old lek).

From the wiretaps of telephone conversations of UBT officials and the administered documentation, it results that the tenders were conducted with manipulated criteria in collaboration with predetermined economic operators.

According to information from SPAK, UBT officials have favored and created conditions for the announcement of winners in 9 tenders of economic operators.

Under investigation for this matter are the two vice-rectors of the Agricultural University of Tirana, Romina Koto and Ilir Kapaj, with a security measure of "Compulsory appearance", while the rector Fatbardh Sallaku has escaped investigation. /CNA
