40 days after his passing, Archbishop Anastasios is remembered in the Cathedral

In a deeply moving atmosphere, the forty-day commemoration of the late Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, Anastasios, took place today, Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana, packed with believers.

The Divine Liturgy and spiritual service were presided over by the Metropolitan of Korça and Supervisor of the Archbishopric, His Grace Joan, with whom the Metropolitan of Germany from the Patriarchate of Antioch, His Grace Isaac, from the Church of Greece, the Metropolitan of Corfu, His Grace Nektarios, and the Metropolitan of Kefalonia, His Grace Demetrius, members of the Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania: the Metropolitan of Gjirokastra, His Grace Demetrius, the Metropolitan of Apollonia and Fier, His Grace Nikola, the Metropolitan of Elbasan, His Grace Andoni, the Metropolitan of Berat, His Grace Asti, the Metropolitan of Amantia, His Grace Nathanael, and the Bishop of Kruja, His Grace Anastasius.

Representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate also participated in the joint prayer: Metropolitan of Prikonez, His Grace Joseph, and Metropolitan of Philadelphia, His Grace Meliton.

To honor the memory of the late Archbishop of our Church, a large number of clergy and believers of the Church of Albania, representatives of the religious, educational and philanthropic institutions of the Archdiocese, as well as visitors from abroad, gathered.

During the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Kruja, His Grace Anastasi, publicly read the testament of the late Archbishop, Anastasi. Then, the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Metropolitan of Prikonez, His Grace Josifi, the Metropolitan of Korça and the Supervisor of the Archbishopric, His Grace Joani, delivered speeches, praising the great missionary, spiritual and social work of the late Archbishop, through which he contributed to the revival of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.

After the memorial service at the Cathedral, a spiritual service was held near the tomb of the late Archbishop, in the crypt under the Holy Altar of the Cathedral, and then a reception was organized for the faithful.

The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania continues its path guided by the vision and legacy of the late Archbishop, Anastasios, continuing his spiritual, pastoral, educational, charitable and peaceful work, which he founded and developed with sacrificial love for 33 years. /CNA
