Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa has reacted to the United States' decision to suspend visas for Albania, describing it as an "alarm bell" for the situation in which, according to her, the country has ended up under the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In a public statement, Zhupa said that for years the government has promoted slogans about strategic partnership, improved image and international credibility, while today Albania, according to her, is being ranked in the same category as countries known for isolation, instability and lack of standards.
According to the Democratic MP, this development is not accidental, but a direct consequence of a state weakened by corruption, organized crime, connections to drug trafficking, and institutions that, as she expressed, function for political interests and not in the service of citizens.
Zhupa stressed that the most serious consequences fall on Albanian citizens, who are directly affected by such international decisions. She described the situation as a step backwards for Albania, not because international partners have abandoned the country, but because, according to her, of the failure of the current government.
In conclusion, Zhupa called for the government's resignation, considering this necessary for the good of the country.
"The US decision to suspend visas for Albania is an alarm bell for the reality of where the country has ended up under Edi Rama's government!
For years we have heard slogans about "strategic partnership", "improved image" and "international credibility", while today our country is ranked in the same category as countries known for isolation, instability and lack of standards.
This is no coincidence. It is a direct consequence of a state weakened by ties to drug trafficking, corruption, organized crime, and institutions that function for political interests, not for citizens.
In the end, those who are harmed are Albanian citizens!
"This is a step backwards for Albania, not because our partners have abandoned us, but because the government has failed. This failed government should have been removed an hour ago for the good of the country!", writes Zhupa./ CNA
