71 thousand vehicles were added to the country's roads in 9 months

For the period January-September 2024, 71.4 thousand new vehicles were registered on the country's roads, according to the data made public by INSTAT. Of these, about 60,000 were cars.

Until September, the total number of road vehicles with "active" and "temporarily unregistered" status circulating in the territory of the Republic of Albania until September 2024, results in 939,152 vehicles.

In the category of road vehicles by type, the largest percentage of the total number of road vehicles is occupied by "Cars" (80.8%), "Vehicles for mixed transport" (6.0%) and "Motor" (5 .7 %).
According to INSTAT, the length of the road network in use is 3,606* km, classified by categories, such as highway, main interurban road, secondary interurban road, urban road and local road. Secondary interurban roads occupy about 74.2% of the length of the road network.

Tirana has more vehicles

In the third quarter of 2024, the highest number of road vehicles is in the district of Tirana, accounting for 34.9% of the total road vehicles in the country, followed by the district of Durrës with 13.5% of the total road vehicles.

The districts with the smallest number of road vehicles are the district of Gjirokastra with 2.2% and the district of Kukes with 2.3% of the total road vehicles. Mercedes Benz still dominates

The brand "Mercedez Benz" is the brand with the highest circulation in the country in the category of road vehicles with 18.0%, followed by the brand "Volkswagen" with 16.3% and "Daimler Chrysler" with 8.2%.

During the third quarter of 2024, 26,183 road vehicles were registered for the first time. In the category of road vehicles according to the type registered for the first time, the largest percentage is occupied by "Cars" with 84.8% and "Motorcycles" with 7.9%.

The highest number of road vehicles registered for the first time is in the district of Tirana, accounting for 38.9% of the total road vehicles registered in the country in the third quarter of 2024.

The districts with the smallest number of road vehicles registered for the first time are Gjirokastër district with 1.4% and Dibër district with 2.1%.

"Volkswagen" is adding the nomination

The "Volkswagen" brand is the brand with the highest circulation in the country in the category of road vehicles registered for the first time with 21.4%, followed by the "Mercedez Benz" brand with 17.6%./ Monitor.al
