Orthodox believers are celebrating Easter tonight. The great mass is taking place at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana, attended by hundreds of thousands of believers.

The Holy Mass is being led by the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, His Grace Joani.

In his speech, the Archbishop said that the Resurrection of Christ is the only resurrection that has brought joy.

Bishop Joan reminded all believers that this year's Easter is celebrated without Archbishop Anastasios.

“Tonight is the commemoration of the resurrection of our Lord. If there had been no resurrection, our faith would have been in vain. Through the resurrection, our nature took on meaning. His resurrection is victory. Every resurrection has brought sadness, while in the resurrection of Christ it brought joy.

We do not have Archbishop Anastasius among us, but we know that he is with the Lord.

Death is not the end. The resurrection strengthens us and gives us all faith. It gives life from his life. We have faith and our faith is not an emotion. Faith is built. There is injustice and wars in the world.

"Relationships between people have been alienated. Spiritual darkness is the greatest obstacle. But the greater the darkness, the greater the light is needed," Archbishop Joan said. /CNA
