Former President Ilir Meta's lawyer, Ilir Cakrani, reacted today after leaving the GJKKO, as this court overturned the termination of the security measure "prison arrest".

In his speech, Cakrani said that they are in total darkness about this issue, as yesterday marked one year since Meta's arrest.

Cakrani added that a precedent is being created and that Meta has no chance of destroying the evidence because there are no witnesses.

"We asked the court to lift the measure because it has met all the conditions and criteria. We don't stay here every week. But they listen to the prosecutors who speak for 2 minutes. They are holding the president hostage without the law. It's true that we are in the preliminary hearing, but we haven't even held a trial. And we don't know how long it will last.

We are in total darkness regarding Mr. Meta's case. He rejected the request, but we do not know the reasoned decision. But today a very dangerous precedent was created for Meta. The termination shows that the terms for pre-trial detention have expired. We refer to the 1-year term that expired yesterday. The technicalities used by the court have no value. The importance of terminating the measure is known.
