A deceptive media campaign is being carried out in recent days, as pressure is being exerted on the justice system in the context of the approaching trial date of Erion Veliaj at the Supreme Court, on July 8.

It all started with an article by Alaistar Campbell, Tony Blair's spin doctor, who tried to link Veliaj's imprisonment to European standards or integration.

Tony Blair himself is an early connection with Prime Minister Rama, and has even worked as his "free" advisor.

Likewise, Serbian Prime Minister Vu?i?.

It seems that the Balkans is one of the spheres of interest of the former British prime minister, who now supports himself with the diplomatic consultancies he provides in various countries around the world, including the United Arab Emirates.

It continued with an open letter from Erion Veliaj's mother, Shqiponja Veliaj, who spoke of a "Kafkaesque nightmare" and that she did not understand "why Europe is turning a blind eye to a clear violation of the values ??on which the EU was founded."

It seems that the main arguments of this media campaign are:

- "Kafkaesque trial", i.e. detention without charge.

- Election of Veliaj by popular vote.

The first is bordering on the ridiculous, as the reasonable suspicion based on evidence is sufficiently substantiated, for corruption and money laundering through a network of NGOs and companies controlled by his wife and brother.

The second is a little more political, and problematic.

The argument that elected officials should not be punished tends to appeal to representation, but it carries a great risk.

Let's assume for a moment the opposite, that anyone elected as a member of parliament or mayor would be above the law.

Wouldn't this be the end of the republic and a new feudalism?

Wasn't SPAK founded precisely to carry out this task, that is, to investigate and punish politicians, elected officials who had built a system of impunity over the years?

Democracy cannot come before the republic, otherwise the door opens to demagogy and despotism.

It is not for nothing that the founding fathers of the United States were terrified of the president's excessive power and made every effort to limit the president's power, as is clearly revealed in the Federalist Papers.

Veliaj's detention is not simply a personal judicial matter.

It is the touchstone for the credibility of SPAK, GJKKO and the Supreme Court, for the continuity of justice and the guarantee that the new justice system is not Edi Rama's hammer to hit the opposition, in the function of an already unstoppable autocracy.
