The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Albania David Wisner has held a meeting at the Constitutional Court of Albania.

In this meeting, Wisner was accompanied by Mrs. Mary Kate Butterfield and Mr. David Backman, legal advisers, residents at the Embassy.

The President of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçaj, emphasized the very important weight that the Constitutional Court holds in resolving the conflict of powers between state bodies, in the final interpretation of the Constitution and guaranteeing respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.

It also highlighted the challenges that this court faces, the most current of which is related to the judicialization of politics and the tendency to include it in the political discourse.

In this context, maintaining the integrity and professionalism of constitutional judges in the exercise of their duty, with dedication and impartiality, relying only on the Constitution and laws, remains of imperative importance.

Likewise, the increasing number of cases and insufficient budgeting in financial means and human capacities remain a challenge.

 The court is making continuous efforts to increase transparency and public confidence in its activity, being oriented towards the fulfillment of its obligation to inform./ CNA
