Brazil has banned the sale of "iPhones" sent without a charger in the packaging.

This decision comes two years after Apple stopped packing chargers and headphones in iPhone retail boxes.

An order published yesterday by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security noted that the company is being fined $2.34 million (BR$12.275 million).

The ministry stated that the products offered were not sufficient and added to the burden on the consumer to obtain a charger.

According to Brazilian authorities, to reduce packaging, the company can take other steps such as switching to USB-C from the Lightning port to charge the iPhone.

On the other hand, the technology giant told "Reuters" that it is working with the local consumer protection agency to find a solution to their concerns.

"We have already won several court decisions in Brazil on this issue and we are confident that our customers are aware of the different options for charging and connecting their device," said an Apple spokesperson.

The tech giant claims that by removing chargers from the retail box, the company has been able to reduce carbon equivalent emissions./ BA - CNA.al
